How do you modernize a cybersecurity brand for government and defense industrial base clients?

Sentinel Blue, a cybersecurity firm for government and defense industrial base clients, needed to modernize its website and brand identity while preserving the existing logo. It also needed a full suite of sub-branded logos for its services collection.

I worked as the lead designer and project manager on this brand redesign and website, in collaboration with Brevity & Wit, and developer, Digital by Jess.

The process of transforming Sentinel Blue's visual identity:

  • In order to modernize the business, brand refresh was pitched to update the logo gradient, enhance colors, and refine typography. Given Sentinel Blue’s work with government and military sectors, the refreshed brand needed to be modernized and become more relatable to its specialized audience, while also retaining the existing brand’s drive and reliability.
  • Refined the logo gradient and developed a comprehensive brand identity guide. I ensured that the brand followed 508 compliance guidelines required for government accessibility.
  • Set up a full suite of branded collateral, including templated presentations and printed materials. Custom illustrations, gradients, an icon library, and sub-brand logos were built as well.
  • Lead and created the page designs that were developed into their new website. The UX across all page designs needed to be as direct as possible to convert high-stakes prospects into leads.
  • Produced a set of sub-branded logos to showcase Sentinel Blue's five premier services.

The outcome:

  • Organic search traffic now accounts for 46% of all website sessions, overtaking direct traffic as the primary source.
  • Achieved a 45.7% engagement rate.
  • The flagship Sentinel Shield service page receives 19% of total website traffic, demonstrating effective conversion pathways.
  • Within one month (May 2025), generated 188 new social media followers with an 11.87% engagement rate across 4,876 impressions.
